Following this, Sunway Iskandar will also attribute sustainable and green elements into the masterplan of Nature’s Capital City.
“I commend Sunway and EcoKnights for this joint effort in supporting sustainable development and promote environmental awareness. This project is a good example of how a responsible developer can benefit both the community and the planet. It is fitting that this announcement falls on the eve of World Environment Day, which encourages worldwide awareness and action for the environment,” said Ambassador Yun.
“We are honoured to have Ambassador Yun, Dr. Melanie Billings-Yun and the delegates present in Sunway Iskandar. As a Master Community Developer, we are committed to developing sustainable townships across the regions, as demonstrated in Sunway Resort City and Sunway City Ipoh. Nurturing the community is also one of our key driver, especially on the environmental front, as we want to ensure a truly liveable city for our residents and visitors,” said Sarena Cheah, Managing Director of Property Development Division for Malaysia and Singapore.
She continued, “We want to nurture “community seeds” through various engagements and this year’s celebration is one of the many initiatives. We have also recently organised Sunway Discovery Walk held at Sunway Resort City with more than 500 participants to commemorate W.E.D.”
Driving more sustainable green efforts across communities: Sunway contributes RM 60,000 to EcoKnights and the Malaysian Environmental NGO (MENGO).
Collaborating with EcoKnights for the second time in Johor, the W.E.D. celebration witnessed Sunway Iskandar’s plans to adopt 75,000 trees across the 1,800-acre township as part of their several community driven efforts. The initiative commenced at the event alongside other activities:
- Six different types of fruit trees were planted to give back to the community around the Emerald Lake Garden
- More than 1,500 fish contributed by Sunway staff and working partners were released into the tranquil Emerald Lake
- An education corner was established by EcoKnights at the sales gallery to provide green education and sustainable activities for the public
- Presentation of RM 60,000 to EcoKnights and the Malaysian Environmental NGO (MENGO) to drive more green initiatives

President of EcoKnights, Yasmin Rasyid, applauded Sunway’s enthusiasm to actively encourage and educate the communities around Malaysia to participate in acts of green. “Sunway Iskandar is blessed with many beautiful natural elements and we are excited to be working with Sunway to preserve the rich surroundings. We also thank the organisation for their generous contribution to enable us to fuel more green-the-earth EcoKnights activities,” said Yasmin Rasyid.
Set to be a world-class city balanced with the beauty of nature and the sophistication of a modern city reflected through its tagline, Nature’s Capital City, Sunway Iskandar will be an intergrated township with a total of 700 acres featuring lush mangrove and green forests, Sungai Pendas, and Straits of Johor. As the Master Community Developer, Sunway ensures that the community is always connected to nature no matter where they are while still enjoying the luxury of a city.
