Many simply can’t wait for The Script to perform in KL ‘For The First Time’

There’s a story behind every song, as they say, and no one knows this better than appropriately-named Dublin band The Script.

The Irish pop-rock band’s musical tales carry themes that range from love and loss to faith and determination, producing a signature blend of heartwarming lyrics and infectious music that has won the hearts of legions of fans worldwide. Unfortunately, Malaysian fans have always had to settle for hearing their faceless voices on the radio – until now.

This April, Kuala Lumpur will serve as the fourth stop in the Asia leg of their third concert tour, launched in support of their newest studio album No Sound Without Silence.

Largely conceptualised, written and recorded on board the tour bus during their 3 World Tour in a bid to harness their post-performance euphoric energy, the album has been described by the band as both a philosophical idea and a criticism of the current vacuousness of the music industry.

“The time we’ve been away, we’ve had time to contemplate what we want to say to the industry,” said frontman Danny O’Donoghue. “There is no sound without silence. You can’t have anything good to say if you don’t think about it first.”

Rock out to Glen Power, Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan this April

No Sound Without Silence has already spawned a number of chart-topping hits such as the sentimental 'No Good in Goodbye' and working class anthem 'Superheroes', which look destined to join previous successes 'The Man Who Can’t Be Moved', 'Breakeven' and 'Hall of Fame' as all-time singalong favourites.

The adventurous trio have experimented with a variety of song styles and lyrics over their four albums, but one thing has remained constant since day one: every song carries a message inspired by issues close to their hearts, and it is clear that people are listening.

“The thought of some person somewhere sitting in their apartment putting our music on because they are hurting and we’re the soundtrack to their emotion – that, to me, is the greatest power of music,” says guitarist and fellow vocalist Mark Sheehan. “And I cannot get over that they might choose our record.”

“Cause I do that. I sit in a room and pick out a song to articulate my feelings. It floors me every time.”
