What went down, and where it was

As the holy month of Ramadhan began in June with Muslims the nation over fasting from sunrise to sunset, VisionKL set forth to capture and cover some of the capital’s goings-on over the month. In conjunction with the Aidilfitri season, Malaysiabased fine jewellery retailer HABIB launched a new retro campaign as well as its latest collection, ‘Moghul’, filled with pieces that flawlessly complement any Hari Raya outfit.

Keeping within the finer retail world, prestigious Swiss watchmaker Ulysee Nardin unveiled its new 2015 collection at Starhill Gallery with updates to classic pieces such as the Freak line and more.

We perked up when we caught wind of the new ‘Spend and Win’ campaign by CIMB Bank and ERAMAN Malaysia, which gives CIMB Card members who shop at Malaysia Airports the chance to win trips to Switzerland, Morocco and Greece along with other fantastic prizes.

Joining hands in The Story of Kuala Lumpur: Mud The Musical

We couldn’t wait to watch the latest version of The Story of Kuala Lumpur: Mud, The Musical, which recently staged its 100th show at the 111-year-old-theatre, Panggung Bandaraya. This feel good musical chronicles the birth of the nation’s capital via a heart-warming tale between three friends.

From culture to comedy we headed for Lagi-Lagi Gila-Gila, a retrospective exhibition at Galeri PETRONAS that featured original artwork from the famous national humour magazine.

Legendary cartoonist Dato’ Mohammad Nor Khalid, more popularly known as Lat, was on hand to launch the showcase.

Meanwhile, Tourism Malaysia is reminding Malaysians that adventure is merely a step away in their own backyard with a new travel campaign, Cuti-Cuti 1Malaysia Dekat Je. As part of the campaign, travellers are encouraged to post ‘wefies’ on social media platforms to help promote and increase domestic tourism.

Speaking of our own backyard, the administrative capital hosted the country’s largest flower and garden festival, Royal Floria Putrajaya. We basked in the dazzling floral display, from the Winter Gardens to the Horticultural Market, where a riot of colours blanketed the grounds.

Next up, we received exciting news from the upcoming KL City Grand Prix. The three-day racing carnival, slated for August, will now feature a sizzling demo by V8 Supercars. Prime yourselves for a loud, fast and aggressive test by the ‘Thunder from Down Under’ in the heart of KL.

Finally, on the performance front we caught world-class a capella group Pentatonix at Stadium Negara who performed a medley of songs, from covers of Beyoncé and Ariana Grande to their own originals and the spectacular ‘Evolution of Music’ – a four-minute journey through musical history.
