The recent 7th Latin American Festival transformed the heart of Bukit Bintang into a multi-cultural celebration of culture, food, life and art from the southern region
Another year gone by and the 7th Latin American Festival held at the Plaza Low Yat Boulevard Strip and bbpark ended on a high note, literally, with the final performance delivered the lively Cuban representatives.
Thousands of visitors flocked to the brightly decorated Boulevard Strip to experience the atmosphere which lasted from 11am until the late evening, and to get a taste of Latin American delicacies which included Argentinean beef empanadas, Brazilian conxinhas, Mexican fried quesadillas, Cuban coconut pastries, Columbian coffee and much more. The upbeat music and dances kept the public on their toes throughout the day, offering up a medley of vibes from the various countries that make up the region, keeping everyone moving to the infectious grooves by the bands.
The annually organized Latin American Festival is a collaboration between the 10 Latin American embassies in Malaysia, hosted by Low Yat Group and supported by the Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). All proceeds of the festival go to charity and this year, the beneficiaries include the Malaysian Association for the Blind and the recent Nepalese earthquake victims.
For those who missed out on this year’s event, the Festival will be back bigger, better and tastier next year, with a heady blend of food, dance and music!
