Kraftangan Malaysia’s National Craft Day Celebration airs the stunning B To B batik collection
Held annually at the Kuala Lumpur Craft Complex, the National Craft Day Celebration honours Malaysia’s rich legacy of craftsmanship with an extensive exhibition populated by entrepreneurs from around the country. Visitors can browse through an array of booths that display pewter, wood, ceramic and metal based textiles to wedding services and other various crafts.
The theme for this year – Eco-Craft: Investment and Sustainability – reflects the government’s effort to promote and incorporate the use of traditional handicrafts in various aspects of daily life. The occasion also grants official recognition to the highly skilled traditional craftsmen for their contribution in preserving Malaysia’s national culture and heritage.
Making its debut this year was the B TO B fashion show which launched the Resort Collection Ready To Wear Spring Summer 2015-2016 and featured a striking selection of locally produced batik. The showcase saw 400 fashion collections from 28 Malaysian fashion designers collaborating with 28 craft textile entrepreneurs from across the country.
To demonstrate the integration of Malaysian craft textiles with international trends, various themes comprising resort wear for spring and summer were presented. Renowned Malaysian designer Datuk Radzuan Radziwill were among the fashion elite to feature new outfits, while working closely with other local talent.
