Tourism Minister Dato’ Sri Dr Ng Yen Yen launching Colours of 1Malaysia.
One of the many cultural displays by the 7,000-strong performers from all walks of life.

This country’s capital is truly a melting pot of cultures, and nowhere was this more obvious than at the vibrant Colours of 1Malaysia showcase. With traditional dances and costumes from all races and states, plus a variety of stalls highlighting the various handicraft, food and products Malaysia has to offer, it was a spirited display that was enjoyed by locals and tourists alike.

The highly acrobatic martial art of Capoiera wowed visitors to the Latin American Festival at bb Park.

KL also loves to acknowledge the many other peoples living and working in and visiting our shores, with one of the high points in May being the fourth edition of the Latin American Festival, which transformed Bukit Bintang’s cultural and social hub, bb Park, into an extravaganza of music, dance, art, handicraft and food from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Also running from last month and into June is the French Art and Film Festival, which fetes everything about France via films, comedy theatre, concerts, a circus show, a French market and a Cognac appreciation conference.

In Klang, Selangor’s Royal Town, the colours of the state were also on display in the Heritage Photo Carnival 2012. The collage along Jambatan Kota, a double-decker bridge, also featured photos of the late Sultan of Selangor that were loaned by the Sultan Abdul Aziz Gallery.
